Almost four years ago to the day I got to check an item off of my bucket list. I got to see, touch, and hug the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! Now, it is back in town on tour. The Wienermobile has been visiting Rouse's Markets over the last few days, but it will be on display at the Lake Charles Pirate Festival Saturday, May 7!

Since 1936, the Wienermobile has been wowing kids and fans of all ages including grown bearded radio DJs! I actually applied to be a "Hotdogger". They drive the mobile around the U.S. I was really sad when I found out you could only do it for a year, well that and you need a college education to do it as well. Since 1988, when it was revived, roughly 450 Hotdoggers have driven the mobiles around the United States spreading the good word of Oscar Mayer.

The entire body is custom-made by Spartan Motors in Michigan and is based on a Chevy one-ton frame with a gas 6 liter to push it around. The interior is when it gets fun! Everything about it inside is dedicated to hot dogs and the wonder that they are. The carpet is designed to look like it's been spread with mustard and ketchup. The big gullwing door and steps drop down so you can climb in. 4 passenger seats are captain style sitting in the back with a driver and co-driver seat at the front. It's truly impressive when you stop and look at all of the details.

Go see it for yourself, or bring the kids at least. the Weinermobile will be set up at the Lake Charles Pirate Fest beginning at noon this Saturday until 8:00 pm. Trust me, it's worth going to see!

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
