For all of you that commute to work on Lake Street in Lake Charles, you will need to start taking another route in the mornings and on the way home.  Lake Charles Public Works Department has closed the Contraband Bayou Bridge for at least four months.  Here is a statement from the city:

The Contraband Bayou Bridge on Lake St. will be temporarily closed to thru traffic beginning Monday, June 13, at 8 a.m. and will remain closed for four to six months to replace the existing bridge. The bridge replacement is part of the Lake St. Phase I road project between Sale and McNeese.

 

Access to all businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project. The public will have access to north and south passage by utilizing Canal St.
