The 2nd annual "Clean the Bayou" event is this Saturday May 5th, 2012.

Clean Bayou is a driving nonprofit organization dedicated to cleaning up the litter and pollution from the beautiful waterways of Southwest Louisiana.  Here are the details on how you can get involved.

Clean Bayou will sponsor the 2nd annual cleanup of the Contraband Bayou on Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m.—2 p.m. operated from Bowtie Marina. Volunteers are needed to help pick up the litter from the banks of the bayou.

Please bring a boat if you have one, or just bring friends, and Clean Bayou will provide a boat. Clean Bayou supplies the trash bags, gloves, refreshments, lunch and T-shirts for a successful cleanup.

Last year it was a huge success with over 150 volunteers and 50 boats. A total of 250 tires and 7.2 tons of trash were removed from the banks of the bayou.
