For months, Lake Street in Lake Charles has been closed as they repaved the road and fixed bridge that goes over Contraband bayou.

I went by the intersection today around 3 p.m. and saw the workers removing the detour signs.

Then around 6 p.m. tonight, we got the official word from the Lake Charles City Police that Lake street is officially re-opened.

Of course, the intersection on Lake street close to McNeese street is still under construction and part of the road is gravel.

But the good news is at least you don't have to detour to Canal street anymore.

So please be careful when going down the Lake Street area between Sale road and McNeese street until construction is finally completed!
