“COPS” Dropped From Paramount Network After 33 Seasons
After 33 seasons on the air, COPS has been dropped from the Paramount network. The show was temporarily furloughed in late May after protests started in reference to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Yesterday, the network made it official by dropping the show all together. A spokesman for the Paramount network said, “Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return.”
COPS was on the FOX network for the first 25 years of its run before moving over to the Spike TV network in 2013, which eventually turned into the Paramount network.
The theme song, Bad Boys, became a hit and, when heard, people automatically know what show the song is associated with.
This got us thinking. With the cancellation of the show after 33 seasons, will other shows like this also be canceled by networks?
LIVE PD is a huge show for the A&E network and a ratings juggernaut. It airs every Friday and Saturday night from 8:00pm to 11:00pm here in Southwest Louisiana.
Do you think this will be the next show that will see a cancellation? Last week, instead of airing LIVE PD, A&E aired Live Rescue, their other reality show following first responders like fire and EMTs.
We shall see.
