The culture in Lake Charles is continuing to grow with plenty of offerings for everyone in the city. Just last week we did the introduction of the Lloyd G. Wade exhibit that will be on display until September 25. The High Flying and Living Large: paintings of James Michalopoulos will be on display beginning next Thursday, September 23.

There will be fifty compositions that will highlight and cover his illustrious career. They will be available for viewing on the 3rd-floor gallery through Saturday, November 27. While Michalopoulos is a Pennsylvania native, in 1981 his sights were set on New Orleans which most people tend to love. The city, culture, and of course you can't forget about those Handgrenades, or maybe that's just me.

James was honored at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as the official artist six times, more than any other artist in the festival's history. His works are in various places including Universal Studios, the Chrysler Corporation and he also has pieces that are owned by celebrities like Bruce Willis, Jackson Browne, John Goodman, Sharon Stone, and New Orleans native Aaron Neville.

Ware's collection as well if you haven't had a chance to check it out on the 2nd floor. The Historic City Hall is located at 1001 Ryan Street and is open Tuesday- Saturday, 10 a.m to 6 p.m. If you need more information, please call 491-9147.
