Angola Guards Arrested, Accused of Covering up Excessive Force
Four Angola guards were arrested for their alleged involvement in covering up excessive force against an inmate.
The incident in question happened on April 9. An inmate was being treated for minor injuries in the prison's medical bay where he told staff about the alleged abuse. The medical staff alerted Angola's investigation officers about the inmate's claims.
Angola officials placed the four guards on leave pending an investigation and contacted the West Feliciana Sheriff's Office and FBI. After a week-long investigation, it was determined the correction officers lied about the incident with the inmate.
The four officers arrested are as follows:
- Major Karla Williams: Employed with the prison since August 29, 2005
- Captain Enrico George: Employed with the prison since October 18, 2012
- Captain Roy J. Favre, III: Employed with the prison since October 15, 2012
- MSgt. Jeffrey Hall: Employed with the prison since October 21, 2019
They were booked on Monday and charged with malfeasance. Angola said all four guards will remain on leave pending the completion of the investigation.
