When the weather warms up, everyone turns to beaches, pools and lakes to beat the Louisiana heat. But water can also be a dangerous place for children. Nearly 1,000 kids die each year due to drowning, and for people between the ages of 5 and 24, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death.

The Fourth of July holiday is upon us and Sheriff Tony Mancuso has issued some tips for safety for your 4th of July celebration in Calcasieu Parish.

With the 4th of July weekend coming up, the Louisiana State Police has issued a statement talking about DWI Checkpoints that will occur this weekend.  The following is a statement from the LSP:

A sad story coming from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office today.  An 18th Month old child is dead at the hands of the baby's mothers boyfriend.

Another drug bust has occurred in the lake area.  The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man in reference to him creating and/or operating a clandestine lab.

Working at the Car Wash!!!!  Remember that song??  Well these to guys were working at the car wash but not in a good way!!!  They were working on stealing stuff.  The Sheriff's Office released this statement in reference to the Burglary:

Another good job by the Vice division of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office getting another subject of the street.  the Sheriff's Office released this statement following the arrest:

Ok, so i have heard it all now.  This guy in Lake Charles decided to go into an apartment complex's laundry room and steal a tenants panties out of the dryer.  I have heard of a Panty Raid but this is ridiculous!!!!

Another reason not to drink and drive.  The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a roving DWI Checkpoint somewhere in the parish this week.  The following is a statement released by the CPSO:

We told you about it earlier in the week. Now the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has released the stats on the seatbelt check point that was conducted yesterday and here are the results:

Its been 11 days now and the search is still on for Joe Constance who is wanted by authorities in connection to a homicide that happened in Lake Charles. A reward has now been offered by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office!  Here is a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is having a seat belt checkpoint somewhere in the parish.  The reason they do this is to save lives.  So make sure that you wear your seat belt not just Thursday but everyday.
