CPSO To Conduct DWI Roving Checkpoints
Another reason not to drink and drive. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a roving DWI Checkpoint somewhere in the parish this week. The following is a statement released by the CPSO:
In a continuing effort to keep the citizens of Calcasieu Parish safe, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a roving DWI detail and a DWI checkpoint this week.
A roving DWI detail is when there are extra deputies, in addition to regular scheduled patrol deputies, patrolling the parish strictly looking for individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
Roving details and DWI checkpoints have proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know these details are being done.
The DWI roving detail is funded by Project KNOW, a grant awarded to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Juvenile Justice Service to target underage drinking. The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
Buckle up, be safe, and designate a driver this week and weekend!!!
