JENNINGS, La. (AP) — A terminated Jennings Police officer who failed to give a field sobriety test to an off-duty officer who hit a parked car after allegedly drinking at a police party, will be reinstated — but at a lower rank.

The American Press reports that the Jennings Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board unanimously voted last week to reinstate former Lt. Mike Janise as a sergeant and suspend him for 60 days without pay. Police Chief Todd D'Albor said Tuesday that Janise is scheduled to return to work Wednesday.

Janise was fired in February for neglect of duty after allegedly failing to give a field sobriety test to then-Capt. Craig Billodeaux, who hit a parked truck with his private vehicle while leaving a police Christmas party at the Jennings Country Club.

What do you think.  Should the officer have got his job back or did he deserve to be terminated?
