FEMA will pay the rent, security deposit, electricity, and water for Hurricane Laura and Delta survivors who qualify for temporary housing through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program.

This program is available to designated parishes that were affected by the hurricanes.  Your rental could be a house, trailer, RV, apartment, or hotel that is close to your home, job, school, and place of worship. If you qualify, your rental amount will be based on the local fair market value determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

You may qualify for the program if you can:

  • Demonstrate your disaster-related financial need; and
  • Show you are developing a longer-term or permanent housing plan or demonstrate progress toward one.

Hurricane survivors are eligible for 18 months of rental assistance as they continue to find a long-term living condition.

To get the paperwork needed to apply for the rental assistance program, you need to contact FEMA:
