The man at the helm of the New Orleans Saints football team Sean Payton is celebrating his birthday today.  Sean turns the rip old age of 52 today but I don't know if he has a lot to celebrate today.

His team is in turmoil after now having their second losing season in a row.  Far are the days when the Saints offense dominated defenses in the league and they were making it into the playoffs every year.

The pinnacle of Payton's career so far is winning Superbowl 44 in 2009.  Since then the Saints have dismantled that winning recipe and have been on a down swing ever since then.  Since winning the Superbowl, the Saints have dealt with losing players, the bounty scandal in 2012 and have lost defensive coordinator after defensive coordinator.

Last season the Saints finished at 7-9 and this year the Saints are currently 6-9 and the best they can do this season is the same at 7-9 if they can beat the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday.

There are rumors that several NFL teams are trying to lure Payton away from the Saints and go to their teams.  We will have to see how this all plays out.

The Saints and Falcons play this Sunday January 3rd, 2016 at noon in Atlanta.
