Lake Charles Woman Arrested for Cruelty to a Juvenile
A local woman is behind bars after CPSO investigators learned she intentionally struck a baby's head up against a wall.
Deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a local hospital on Monday, February 12, at about 6:40 p.m. in reference to a "possible cruelty to a juvenile." said a media release. When deputies arrived medial staff informed them a 4-month-old was brought in with a brain bleed.
After further investigation, detectives learned the child was under the supervision of a babysitter, 25-year-old Kristian A. Rosas of Lake Charles. The baby was at her home when an incident occurred where Rosas reportedly "intentionally struck the baby's head against a wall." The baby has since been transported to a hospital out of town and listed in serious condition.
Rosas was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to a juvenile. Her bond is set at $80,000.
