Coming up this Monday, January 17th, will be a federal holiday. Federal and local offices will be closed in remembrance of Martin Luther King day.

This means banks, local city, and parish offices plus mail and federal buildings will all be closed that day for the holiday.

In the city of lake Charles, that will mean the city of Lake Charles offices will be closed and your trash pickup days will change due to the holiday.

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.

There will be no trash pickup on  Monday, January 17th for Martin Luther King Jr day.

Also, all other services of the Department of Public Works, including all Recycling Operations (Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln, Wood Waste Facility, and Roving Green Truck) will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022, but will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Remember when it is your trash day, the city of Lake Charles residents is reminded to have their trash cans placed out no later than  7:00 am on the day your trash will be picked up. Also, residents must bring in their trash cans no later than 7:00 pm on the day of collection.
