After two hurricanes and a flood in Lake Charles, our area has sure taken a beating over the past 14 months.  Residents and business owners are still trying to rebuild their homes and businesses.

If you ride around Lake Charles, you will still see structures that still have no roofs and you can still see inside of the structure. They look abandoned and unrepairable.

FEMA has been in Lake Charles with their recovery center helping residents with paperwork and applications.

Erin Gaddis with FEMA sent us some information that we wanted to pass along to the residents of Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana.

She said,

The FEMA Recovery Service Center in the Lake Charles Civic Center is closing permanently at 4 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Until then, specialists at the center remain available to answer survivors’ questions about FEMA applications, advise applicants about appeals, provide assistance with home repair and other immediate needs and upload documents.

So if you are still in need of assistance and want to talk to someone face to face, then you will need to stop by the Lake Charles recovery location before this Thursday, October 7th before your time runs out.

Like the press release says, after October 7th, you will need to get your assistance online.
