The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a DWI checkpoint on Friday, June 29, 2018, in the 1600 block of Swisco Road in Sulphur with the goal "to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics", said a media release from CPSO spokesperson Kim Myers.

There were 267 vehicles checked, 12 field sobriety tests administered, and multiple citations were given out. The checkpoint resulted in 6 arrests, and 3 of them were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

  • Timothy D. Perkins, 38, Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of CDS II; possession of CDS I; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting an officer; and failure to ID.
  • Jeremiah M. Spell, 32, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of CDS II; possession of CDS I; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Gloria A. Guidry, 45, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of CDS II; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The persons listed below signed a summons and were released:

  • Larry A. Jackson, 48, Sulphur, was arrested for DWI.
  • Lauren P. Myers, 22, DeRidder, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
  • Chance D. Cooper, 22, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
  • Tiffany B.Bumgarden, 37, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
