Fishing is one of the greatest ways to bond as a family. You get to slow down life, talk, and enjoy each other's company.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is inviting all Louisiana residents this weekend, June12-13, to take part in their annual Free Fishing Weekend. This weekend, you can take the family out and fish without a fishing license. Whether your favorite fishing is freshwater or saltwater, it's all fair game.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Jack Montoucet said this in a press release:

Each year, we designate a weekend of free fishing as an incentive for families and friends to get outside and enjoy our beautiful Sportsman’s Paradise.

Even though you won't need a fishing license this weekend, all the regulations are still in place. For more information on Louisiana fishing regulations, click here.

After the free fishing weekend, Louisiana residents 16 and older will need to purchase a fishing license by clicking here.
