The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating is the ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign which will end on Labor day on Monday, September 7th.

With that being said, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint somewhere in the parish this Friday night.

Kim Myers with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says:

During participation in the national crackdown on drunk driving campaign, ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’ the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the parish on Friday September 4.

This checkpoint will target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, which has been proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted.

This is a big weekend for Southwest Louisiana with high school and college football starting, there will be parties all over the area.  Plus the Labor day holiday coming up on Monday, this is a perfect time to make sure our roadways and highways are safe for people to enjoy sports outings and their Labor Day holiday.  Please be careful out there and designate a sober driver.
