With the Labor day holiday just a couple weeks away, local law enforcement agencies are banding together and will be participating in the "Drive Sober or get pulled over" campaign.

We learned yesterday that one of those agencies that will participate is the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO).

CPSO spokesperson Kim Myers says:

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating in the national crackdown on drunk driving with grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.  The campaign, that starts August 19 and ends September 5 after the Labor Day holiday weekend, ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’ is a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to curb impaired driving and save lives.

So starting this Friday August 19th through Labor day you will see an increase of police presence on the roadways so please be careful and designate a driver.
