The McNeese Cowboys football team are gearing up for the 2016 season and will kick off the season this Saturday in Lake Charles. With the season nearing, all the preseason polls are coming out.

Well we are only one week away from the kick off to the 2016 college football season and our three local Louisiana college football teams will all be in action next Saturday.

The McNeese Ahtletic department has announced that tickets for the McNeese Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns football game are now on sale.

Three former McNeese football players who are all in the McNeese Hall of Fame are now all part of head coach Lance Guidry's coaching staff.

College Baseball is about to begin again for the McNeese Cowboys baseball team. The team is preparing for opening day which will be this Friday night at Cowboy diamond.

The McNeese Cowgirls basketball team will get to play tonight in Lake Charles but not at the regular home at the Burton Coliseum. Due to the 77th Southwest Louisiana Livestock show and rodeo coming to town, McNeese will play their game tonight inside the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Pending final approval by the Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, Matt Viator officially jumped ship from McNeese to UL-Monroe this morning.

In a report that has not been substantiated yet by McNeese State University, a Monroe TV station is reporting that head football coach Matt Viator will be announced as UL-Monroe's new coach Tuesday morning.

The Cowboys ended up as the fourth seed in the playoffs which is still good. They received a bye which means they have a week off and will host a home playoff game.

McNeese State University and their athletic department are gearing up for their 2015 homecoming parade this Thursday night to celebrate the Cowboys football season. People from all over Southwest Louisiana will head to the parade route for a good time and root the Cowboys onto victory. Here is the parade route.

This week it's homecoming for the Cowboys and they will take on Northwestern State this Saturday at Cowboys stadium. The game will also be televised.

The McNeese football team will have a huge game today as they travel up to Conway Arkansas today to take on Central Arkansas for first place in the conference.
