Joe Paterno, the 85 year old Hall of Fame coach, will be laid to rest today in a private service for just the family. Public memorials however will begin this morning, January 24th, 2012, in State college.

Legendary former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno has died.  The news just came over the wire that Paterno has died after his battle with Cancer.

The Penn State Board of Trustees announced today they are firing longtime football coach Joe Paterno, as well as university president Graham Spanier. Both officials are accused of not reporting to police knowledge of sexual abuses against children by a member of their staff.

In the midst of a sex scandal that has consumed Penn State University, legendary head coach Joe Paterno will reportedly announce his retirement on Wednesday. His retirement would take effect at the end of the season.
