Joe Paterno, the 85 year old Hall of Fame coach, will be laid to rest today in a private service for just the family.

Public memorials however will begin this morning, January 24th, 2012, in State college.

The second day of a three-day period of public mourning for the late Joe Paterno will start with a four-hour visitation Wednesday morning.Hundreds -- if not thousands -- of alumni, residents and students are expected to attend.

Joe Paterno’s funeral and burial service will be this afternoon that the family has made private. The 85 year old Hall of Fame football coach who became the face of Penn State University died Sunday of lung cancer.

Joe Paterno won 409 games and two national championships in a career admired by peers as much for its longevity as its success. I don't know if we will ever see this level of success in the college football coaching ranks again in our lifetime.  RIP Joe Pa.
