In an attempt to help make drivers and passengers safe in Southwest Louisiana, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint this weekend at an undisclosed location.

The Sheriff's office released this explaining what they are doing this weekend.

From the Sheriff's Office:

In a continuing effort to keep the citizens of Calcasieu Parish safe, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint in the parish this weekend.  These checkpoints will target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  They have proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted.

This checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

So be careful out there if you are going out or heading to watch the big LSU/Alabama game.  Get a designated driver and buckle up!!!

Have a great weekend!
