After weeks of dry weather, the skies have unfortunately decided to open up on the weekend the Chennault International Airshow returns. As such, Sunday's performances have been canceled due to weather and safety considerations.

However, Saturday's performances are set to continue as planned.

"Though we canceled the Sunday performance out of an abundance of caution," said Director Mary-Jo Bayles, "the Thunderbirds, Golden Knights and other performers are in Lake Charles and ready to put on a great show Saturday."

The possibility of severe weather on Sunday caused air show planners  -- in consultation with the Calcasieu Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness -- to shutter Sunday's performances. All tickets for Sunday's shows will be honored on Saturday, according to officials.

Gates will open on Saturday at 9 a.m. with showtimes starting at 10 a.m.
