The Lafayette Police Department, working with the multi-jurisdiction task force, has made an arrest in connection with the case.  Brandon Scott Lavergne is from the Lawtell area. He is a registered sex offender.

LPD and Saint Landry Parish Sherriff Deputies are executing a search warrant of Brandon Scott Lavergne's residence on the 100 block of Elaine Lane in the Swords area. Saint Landry Parish Sherriff Bobby Guidroz says they are there investigating a major crime.   He would neither confirm nor deny that the operation was in connection with the Shunick case.

KPEL NewsRadio is reporting that Lafayette Police have made an arrest, but are not giving any details until a 1 p.m. press conference on Friday afternoon.  No word has been released on whether or not she has been located, either alive or dead.  While it's frustrating, we should know more tomorrow after noon.

Shunick has been missing for well over a month now.  She left a friend's house at 2 a.m. on bike and never made it home. Community support in the search for Mickey was initially strong, but a lack of leads has left everyone wondering what happened. While a bike thought to be hers was recovered along Whiskey Bay, no signs of her have cropped up.

We'll keep you updated as we know more.
