United Way Giving Away Free Meals And Turkeys Today

Today, the United Way of Southwest Louisiana is serving up free meals from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Throne of Grace Baptist Church, 2401 6th Street in Lake Charles. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the City of Lake Charles and Mayor Nic Hunter wanted give a little extra to Lake Charles families who've had a rough few months.

Mayor Hunter will team up with United Way to give away 2,000 turkeys just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. To receive a free turkey, text TURKEY to 40403 now. After today, KPLC reports United Way of Southwest Louisiana will close the Hurricane Relief Center to work on rebuilding projects and community service initiatives in the area.

Free meals will be given away throughout the day and are available to anyone in need. In addition, turkeys will be given away to everyone participating via texting TURKEY to 40403. Happy Thanksgiving from Mayor Hunter, United Way, and the Throne of Grace Baptist Church.
