There Is No Shortage Of Gas In SWLA

Local suppliers are sounding the alarm that there is no need for alarm. There is no shortage of gas in SWLA.

Though there is a shortage of gasoline in some parts of the country, the actual low supply is due to people hoarding and panic buying. On May 7, 2021,  the Colonial Pipeline, which carries fuel mainly to the southeastern portion of the United States, suffered a ransomware cyberattack.

The attack impacted the computerized equipment that manages the pipeline and caused it to shut down. However, this had no impact on the fuel supply here in Louisiana. Further, if people stop panic buying and hoarding, there will be enough gas for people in the hardest hit areas from Florida to Virginia.
