Lake Charles Holding Public Meeting For All Businesses On Mardi Gras Parade Route

The anticipation and excitement about Mardi Gras is something that Louisiana always loves and talks about. There are various Mardi Gras balls and numerous amounts of beads and more that have been known to sometimes clog up the drainage here in Lake Charles.

To get the ball rolling along with the anticipation, there will be a meeting held tomorrow with various property owners and business owners who could be affected by the 2022 Mardi Gras Parades. If you have ever been a part of a Mardi Gras parade or been inside a business, you know how at times it could be a little problematic for patrons to get to their favorite business or restaurants.

The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 326 Pujo Street. The Merchants' Parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, February 25, and the Children's Parade is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 27. The Krewe Of Krewe of Krewes Parade will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1. All of the parades will begin at the north end of Bord Du Lac Drive, cross over Lakeshore Drive onto Pine Street, turn right on Ryan and continue to Sale Road where the parades will end.

On Mardi Gras day, Tuesday, March 1, the Second Line Stroll Walking Parade will be at 1 p.m. and Jeeps on Parade will be at 2 p.m. At the public meeting that is being held on tomorrow, City Officials will advise the public about their port-a-can placements, dumpster placements, also the police command center locations, dos and don'ts, as well as parking restrictions.

The City will also distribute cardboard trash boxes with plastic liners at the meeting to property owners along the parade route. You are invited to attend this meeting tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at the City Hall Chambers of City Hall on Pujo Street.
