Summer Workshops: The Children’s Theatre Company, July 16 – August 2
There are workshops in SWLA for ages 5-18. Students will learn musical theatre techniques by acting, singing, dancing, and more.
The Children’s Theatre Company announces two upcoming Summer Theatre Workshops, aimed to "introduce newcomers to the world of theatre and challenge young performing veterans to perfect advanced theatrical concepts and production techniques", said a media release.
Shakespeare Fun: 5-18: July 16 - 20: $85.00
5-8-year-olds: 10:00 am - 11:15 am
9-18-year-olds: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Learn the language, ideas and adventures of Shakespeare. Students perform excerpts from some of William Shakespeare’s most popular plays while experiencing the technical aspects of lighting, set designs and creating costumes. The workshop concludes with a free public performance starring all of the students.
Kidz in Showbiz: 5-18, July 29-August 2: $85.00
5-8-year-olds: 10:00 am - 11:15 am
9-18 Year Olds 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Students will learn musical theatre techniques by acting, singing and dancing to songs from Broadway shows. The final class features the students in a performance demonstration highlighting musical theatre skills learned.
Both workshops conclude with performance demonstrations. No experience is needed for the workshop. All workshops have limited enrollment and are held at Central School of the Arts & Humanities Center (809 Kirby Street).
