Six Former LSU Tigers Will Play In Super Bowl 55
Yesterday was championship Sunday in the NFL, as the AFC and NFC championship games were played. When the dust all cleared, there were just two teams standing.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay 31-26, vaulting quarterback Tom Brady into his tenth Super Bowl. He has already won six, so will this be his seventh? Tampa's win sends them into Super Bowl 55, and they will be the first team in NFL history to play the Super Bowl in their own stadium.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 38-24 to punch their ticket to their second straight Super Bowl. They are the defending champs, by the way.
Tampa Bay and Kansas City will play on Sunday, February 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, and there will be six former LSU Tigers playing in the game.
On the Tampa side, former LSU running back Leonard Fournette and linebackers Devin White and Kevin Minter will play for the Buccaneers.
On the Kansas City side, defensive back Tyrann Mathieu and running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams will play in the Super Bowl for the Chiefs.
Several of these players will try and join an elite class of winning a college football national championship and a Super Bowl.
Here is a staggering stat for you. At least one former LSU Tigers football player has played in the Super Bowl for the last 20 years straight. That is impressive.
