We have learned the news that Lake Charles businessman Robert Noland has died at the age of 70. Noland is known in the lake area for his charity work and his support of McNeese State University.

In 2014, the Robert Noland Alumni Pavilion opened on the campus of McNeese by the football and baseball fields. The pavilion which is a 4,709-square-foot facility and seats 270 people, is located on the corner of Common and McNeese Streets in South Lake Charles.

Robert Noland donated $460,000 to the project and McNeese named the pavilion in his honor.  Noland is also known for his donation to help McNeese to do renovations to the football field and convert it to artificial turf.

Robert Noland was a longtime supporter of McNeese. He donated funds for student scholarships. Noland also donated a 55-passenger bus for the athletics department to use at one time.

Robert Noland was also a member of several civic and university organizations.

He was born March 28, 1951 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and was the middle child of Helen “Heitie” Richard Noland and Wade “A.W.” Noland.

 

During his business career he held memberships in the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Louisiana Forestry Association, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity Alumni, and served as Captain of Krewe de Zeus.

 

Visitation will be at the chapel of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard on Thursday November 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM. There will be a private burial after the service.
