SWLA Veteran’s Association 7th Annual Veteran’s Day BBQ

The SWLA Veteran's Association is hosting their 7th annual Veteran's Day BBQ this year on Veteran's Day, November 11. This year's festivities will be hosted at Paul's Rib Shack in Lake Charles from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm. The group is a non-profit organization that was started in 2015 with the focus on providing social outlets for local veterans and participating in charitable events across the community.

The group was actually started based on this BBQ, the inaugural BBQ was thought up to just provide an atmosphere for all veterans to come together and fellowship free of charge. The group was indeed able to do that and has now grown its membership exponentially, roughly 600 veterans and counting. They now hold monthly social meetings, activities, and even work on helping veterans with job placement and more.

This year's BBQ being held at Paul's Rib Shack will feature various raffle items for sale, with all proceeds going to a local charity. There will also be live entertainment provided by Clayton Rougeou. Any veteran that wishes to attend, can do so for free and are encouraged to bring their family as well. As always, this event is free to all veterans of any age or service, and the food and drinks are free during the event. Their motto is "It will always be free to the ones who put FREE in FREEdom!"
