The forecasters are predicting fantastic weather this weekend, so plan to take the family to see an outdoor movie for free.

Movies Under the Stars wraps up its Spring 2018 season Friday night at Prien Lake Park in Lake Charles with "Wonder," the story of a little boy born with a facial deformity who attends public school for the first time. The movie, rated PG, is based on a New York Times best seller about being different and learning to accept our differences. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs. You should get to the park around 7:00. The movie starts at sundown.

In Sulphur on Saturday night, Movies in the Square continues its 2018 season with a showing of "The Lego Batman Movie" which is rated PG. The event website sets up the movie with a nice synopsis of what to expect:

A cooler-than-ever Bruce Wayne must deal with the usual suspects as they plan to rule Gotham City, while discovering that he has accidentally adopted a teenage orphan who wishes to become his sidekick.

I'm not sure how you accidentally adopt a teenage orphan, but I'm sure you and your family will have fun experiencing this one together. Pack a picnic or just bring something to sit on. The movie starts around 7:45 at The Grove at Heritage Square on Ruth Street.

Movies in the Square in Sulphur continues through July, and the schedule will feature animated favorites like "Coco" and family-friendly action films like "Star Wars-The Last Jedi."
