With a football season like this ... it's a good thing the duck hunting is great! With a lack of consistency In New Orleans, at LSU and McNeese; there has been little to cheer about during this year's football season. The same thing can not be said across the Sabine River where the Cardinals have had a great season and last night capped it off with a road victory over our Cowboys in Lake Charles.

Yesterday's Cowboys game reminded me of a similar situation in a Saints game earlier this year where it appeared Jimmy Graham had caught a Hail Mary touchdown pass that would have given the Saints a win; but it was called back on a penalty. Last night at Cowboy Stadium with the game tied at 24 and 3:22 left to play ... the Cowboys Dominique Hill scooped up what appeared to be a fumble after a completed pass. He ran the fumble 28 yards for a touchdown only to have the play called back after the pass was ruled incomplete and thus the fumble was negated. There was more bad news as the Cowboys picked up two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on the play. All of that gave the Cardinals great field position at the Cowboy 42 yard line. They drove down to the Cowboy six yard line and kicked the game winning field goal.

The Cardinals took a 27-24 thrilling win back to Beaumont while stunned Cowboy fans sat wondering what had happened to a team ranked in the top 10 most of the season.  The good news was that Senior Quarterback Will Briscoe got to lead the team on offense during his final game. He had a two touchdown night and was 15-25 for 144 yards and no interceptions.
