The McNeese Cowboys football team had a week off but still moved up in both the FCS Coaches poll and the Sports Network Top 25 poll.

McNeese football made another move up both the FCS Coaches poll and the Sports Network Top 25 – ranking 15th in the coaches and 19th in the SN poll this week.

McNeese (4-1, 1-1 SLC) will host Central Arkansas, No. 17 and 21 in the two polls, this Saturday at 7 in a key Southland Conference game and the biggest game of the season so far for the Cowboys this season.  It’s one of five FCS matchups that features ranked teams facing off against each other.

Sam Houston State is the only other league team ranked as it holds down No. 9 in the Sports Network poll while jumping a spot to No. 8 in this week’s coaches poll.

North Dakota State continues to lead both polls.  The Bison dismantled then-No. 3 Youngstown State 48-7 last week.

Other Top 25 showdowns for this week feature No. 8 Youngstown State visiting No. 14 Illinois State; No. 13 Appalachian State at No. 25 Samford; No. 6 Eastern Washington at No. 2 Montana State; and No. 5 Wofford at No. 7 Georgia Southern.
