The McNeese Cowboys begin practice on January 27th and begin play on Feb. 17th.

The game I know a lot of you are wondering about is the game against LSU.  Well that game will be Wednesday Feb. 29th at 6:30 p.m. at Cowboys diamond.

It will mark the first time the LSU Tigers have come to Lake Charles to play the Cowboys since the 1998 season.

The first of March the Cowboys will host Central Michigan and Southeastern in a three day round robin matchup.  Other non-conference home games will be with UL Lafayette (March 7), Texas Southern (March 13), UNO (April 17) and UL Monroe (May 1).  Southland Conference series at home will be against Central Arkansas, Nicholls State, UTSA, Sam Houston State and UT Arlington.

The Cowboys have 15 returning from last year's squad that posted a 26-30 overall record.  Among those returnees are the two top hitters from the 2011 team, Seth Granger and Renny Weber.

Among the top newcomers joining the team are infielder Tyler Klouser, outfielder Skylar Barrentine, pitchers Kaleb Fontenot, Jason Gibson, Michael Clemens and Blake Ware and catcher/first baseman Michael Sullivan.
