Market Basket On Nelson Road In Lake Charles Now Open [PICTURES]
Get ready to get excited Lake Charles because the Market Basket located at 4431 Nelson Road in Lake Charles is NOW open!
The store has been closed and shut down ever since August of 2020 when hurricane Laura came through Lake Charles and damaged the store forcing it to close. To add insult to injury, hurricane Delta came through six weeks later to finish it off.
Since then, the fine folks at Market Basket have been working hard to get a plan together to rebuild and reopen the popular location of Market Basket in Lake Charles.
Market Basket was one of our businesses that were hit especially hard losing many of their locations to the hurricane in Southwest Louisiana. They had damage to the Market Basket locations in Moss Bluff, Vinton, Ryan Street, Lake Street, and Nelson Road locations forcing them to close them all.
Even though most of their locations were damaged and they were closed, Market Basket stepped up and helped Southwest Louisiana with free grocery events in the parking lots of their closed locations.
They did free grocery giveaway events at their Vinton, Lake Street, and 3rd Avenue locations giving away more than $50 worth of free groceries to over 1100 families at each location.
Since then, Market Basket has reopened the Lake Street and Vinton locations while still working on the Ryan Street, Moss Bluff, and Nelson Road locations, and the good news, Nelson Road is NOW OPEN!

We confirmed with the store manager Eric Leger that the Nelson road location reopened yesterday, Monday, January 17th, 2022. They are still looking to hire some great folks for the Nelson Road location.
