LSU Football Breaks Into The AP Top 25 Poll
The LSU Tigers football team is nationally ranked again. The college football polls came out Sunday and LSU has now landed in the AP top 25. The last time LSU was nationally ranked was in the preseason poll in 2021.
That's over a year since the Tigers were on the rankings top 25 lists. After the Tigers beat Auburn Saturday night in Alabama, the voters gave LSU some love. LSU is now ranked #25 on the AP Poll.
The Tigers however weren't able to break into the AFCA Coaches poll. Even though LSU didn't make it into the coach's poll, they did receive 89 votes.
LSU beat Auburn 21-17 to get their fourth straight victory of the season. The Tigers got off to a rocky start at the start of the Brian Kelly era losing to Florida State in the Superdome in New Orleans.
After that game, however, LSU has beaten Southern, Mississippi State, New Mexico, and now Auburn and has a 4-1 record for the 2022 season.
Next up for LSU is a huge game with the Tennessee Volunteers in Baton Rouge. Tennessee is currently ranked #8 in the AP Poll and AFCA Coaches Poll and they sit at 4-0 on the season. Tennessee has beaten Ball State, Pitt, Akron, and most recently beat the then 20th ranked Florida Gators Saturday 38-33.
Tennessee comes into Baton Rouge this Saturday to face the Tigers in an early game with the kickoff set for 11:00 am. The game will air nationally on ESPN.
