Stop me if you've heard this before, but Louisiana residents can expect a threat of strong storms and maybe even severe weather beginning Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday. That seems to be the weather pattern that we are in or at least have been in for the past three weeks.

We've had glorious and beautiful weekends as a payoff but the bumpy weather during the week has been quite the price to pay for many residents of the state. We still have people hurting in the New Orleans area from tornadoes over two weeks ago and some residents of central and northern Louisiana are still cleaning up after a round of storms moved through that area last week.

If there is a silver lining to what could be some very threatening and dark clouds later this week it would be this. For the past few weeks, the Storm Prediction Center has placed Louisiana or parts of Louisiana under an enhanced risk for severe weather. This week, forecasters are going with a slight threat. Granted, there still could be strong storms and possible tornadoes developing in the slight risk area too, but the chances are not nearly as great.

In fact, the Storm Prediction Center forecast suggests that we won't see an enhanced threat of severe weather in the state until Wednesday, the above graphic is for Tuesday's forecast. However, it does look as if that enhanced threat will once again be confined to the central and northern sections of the state.

Today's weather issue for most of Louisiana will be the wind. There is a wind advisory for much of the region from 10 this morning until 7 this evening. Forecasters say southerly winds will blow from 20 to 25 mph during the day today. We could experience gusts in excess of 35 mph as well. This could make things a little tricky on east-west roadways such as I-10, especially for motorists who drive high profile trucks, campers, and other vehicles of a similar design.

The National Weather Service Radar Scan shows there are showers and thunderstorms pushing across the northern half of the state already this morning. But the forecast consensus suggests that Lafayette and Lake Charles as well as other cities along I-10 won't experience significant rain chances until Tuesday afternoon and evening.

You can expect showers and storms to continue across the region for much of the day on Wednesday and finally exit the area during the morning hours of Thursday. The outlook for Good Friday calls for partly sunny skies and a 30% chance of showers. The forecast for Easter Sunday suggests that South Louisiana will wake up to partly cloudy skies but there will be a slight risk of showers in the afternoon.
