The Louisiana Department of Education’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) announced that Oct. 1 is the deadline to apply for assistance. Families who apply for financial assistance AFTER the first will be placed on a waiting list. The Dept. of Ed said that it is important that those in need of help apply before the end of September. For more info about the CCAP program and to apply, CLICK HERE.

Once the applicant registers and are determined to be eligible, it usually takes between 60 to 90 days to receive funds from the program. The October 1 deadline to apply is due to the number of families applying, various changes in rates, and eligibility within budgeted funding for the assistance program. Those families who are eligible and are placed on the wait list will receive assistance when funding becomes available again.

According to the Dept. of Ed, some children will receive assistance without being placed on a waitlist including children who are homeless or in foster care.
