Once in my life, I had the pleasure of visiting a bakery and trying my hand at making a king cake. It's not an easy process, but it sure was fun!

For the third year, the city of Sulphur is hosting the King Cake Taste Off in conjunction with their parade. It will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, at the Henning Cultural Center. The public is invited to taste all they want for free and vote on the People's Choice Award!

The contest is open to individuals, groups, and businesses. According to the letter attached to the entry form, each participating "vendor" will be given $150 for each category for which they have an entry. If you decide to bake up a tasty carnival treat, make it big enough to let at least 500 people have a bite.

Whether you opt for the traditional unfilled king cake, one that's filled with a cream or jelly, decorated or themed, this contest is sure to be one of the most delicious all year. Put it on your calendar and enter today if you can make a cake fit for a king!
