Inmate Found Dead At Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility

An investigation is underway to understand what happened to 47-year-old Ray A. Lawrence Jr. He was an inmate at the Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility and was found unresponsive last night, October 1, in his cell around 6:30pm.

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent, Lawrence was being held in a single-inmate cell and there were no apparent signs of foul play. Deputies attempted CPR and called emergency medical personnel, but were unable to revive him. Mr. Lawrence was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The Calcasieu Coroner is currently working to determine the cause of death.
