Hurricane Laura's impact on Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes is, in a word, devastating. Clearly, Laura's destruction reaches throughout Acadiana and Louisiana. One area of the State hit harder by the storm than most of us realize is the Alexandria/CENLA area.

Currently, there are over 70,000 homes and businesses in the Alexandria and Central Louisiana still without power.

Widespread boil advisories are in effect for Alexandria, Pineville, Cheneyville, Beauregard Parish and many more areas and communities in Central Louisiana.

Communication issues are fairly extensive as well with Internet and cell service pretty unreliable or nonexistent in most of the area.

Families looking for shelter from the impact of Hurricane Laura are now being directed to a mega shelter in Alexandria. The Department of Children and Family Services has set up the reception center at the Alexandria Recreation Center at 8125 Hwy 71 South.
Below are few photos sent in by friends and family from the Alexandria and Natchitoches areas.
