GOAT Versus GOAT This Sunday In New Orleans
The term GOAT gets thrown around a lot these days but it should be reserved for those who are actually GOATs. It stands for Greatest Of All Time and in the past couple of years it has become more popular to use when describing sports figures who are the best in their respective sports.
Such is the case this Sunday as the Tampa Bay Bucs and their GOAT, Tom Brady, will travel to New Orleans to face the New Orleans Saints and their GOAT, Drew Brees, in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.
Tampa Bay beat the Washington football team last Saturday night 31-23 while the Saints beat the Bears 21-9 yesterday to force the match-up. This will be the third time this season Tampa Bay and the Saints will face off, with the Saints already winning the first two games.
Why am I using the term GOAT to describe Tom Brady and Drew Brees? Because they are two of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL. First, they are both going to be first ballot Hall of Famers. Second, both are over 40 years old and are still playing at the top of their game.
Brady is a six-time Super Bowl champion and Brees has one Super Bowl ring to his credit. Both have also won the Super Bowl MVP award along with being selected in the Pro Bowl several times.
But the most impressive stats they hold are all the major passing records in the NFL. Brees has passed for over 80,000 plus yards in his career, which makes him number one overall in the history of the league. Brady is a close second with over 79,000 plus yards to his credit.
There are many other stats we could name, but I think you get the hint. The two GOATs will face off for the third time this season this Sunday evening in the Superdome in New Orleans for the chance to make it to the NFC Championship game.
Listen to this legendary game starting at 3:00pm with the pregame show on Gator 99.5. Kickoff will be at 5:40pm. The game will and also be televised on FOX.
