After almost a year of being closed down after Hurricane Laura initially struck the SWLA area, Westlake's own Fat Boyz Kitchen Table and Catering has announced its grand re-opening this week. Despite the devastating loss to his building, owner Richard Cole didn't let that stop him from still doing what he does best. After Hurricane Laura passed, Cole could be found cooking for the various law enforcement officers keeping them fed throughout the day. He even would save some leftovers to a few hungry radio DJs at the end of the evening.

The Westlake restaurant features home-cooked meals each and every day as a plate lunch, just like mamma used to make. Lunch-goers who visit will experience cafeteria-style food and catered meals for special events. The restaurant will have its grand opening this Wednesday opening from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. For those of you that are already fans of Fatboyz, Cole says that since it is opening on Wednesday it will indeed be beef tip Wednesday like normal.

News of places opening up just makes me smile. We know what we all have been through over the last year with COVID on top of a handful of natural disasters. To see businesses slowly open back up just shows the fight and drive we have here in SWLA. Congrats to Fatboyz Kitchen and all of the other restaurants and businesses that are reopening their doors.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
