Downtown at Sundown Now Open to Everyone

The annual downtown Lake Charles event known as Downtown at Sundown was announced a month or so ago. The concert series is known to pack the streets of downtown Lake Charles each year, but was forced to be virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic.

When it was announced this year, it was on the edge of Governor Edwards' newest phase. The event was unsure what the capacity would be able to be upon its actual date of May 28. To handle the guidelines, event planners were forced to limit the capacity to 1000 tickets in order to fit in the guidelines.

Now, all that is gone and in the past. The official announcement was made today that the event is no longer limited to 1000 people, but can now be attended by anyone and everyone.

It begins this weekend, May 28, with the Zyde-pokes and Three Sheets. June 4 will feature Mickey Smith Junior and Sax in the City with the Charlie Wayne Band as the opener.

Each show starts at 6:00pm and will take place at the 1000 Block of Ryan Street. It is free for all ages, so bring a lawn chair and pass a good time in downtown Lake Charles.
