Over the weekend, the sad news came out that 1990s country singer Jeff Carson had passed away.  Carson was born Jeffrey Lee Herndon in Arkansas and burst on the country music scene in the 1980s.

Even though Jeff Carson started out in the 80s it took until 1995 until he charted his first hit. The song was called Not On Your Love and went all the way to #1 on the charts.  Remember it?

That song right there makes you want to crack open a cold one right?  He followed that song up with his second big hit called The Car. That song cracked the top 10 on the chart with its highest position at #3.

Carson was also a songwriter along with being a solo artist. He released two more albums after his first one that spawned two top 10 hits, Carson wasn't ever able to repeat the success he had from his first album.

He only had two more tunes that cracked the top 20 with Holdin' On To Somethin' in 1995 and Real Life in 2001.

After failing to chart more singles, Carson decided to call it quits in country music. In February 2009, he retired from the music business and joined the Franklin, Tennessee police force as a full-time police officer.

Carson did that until he died this past weekend. Carson died from a heart attack at a hospital in Franklin, Tennessee, on March 26, 2022, at the age of 58.

RIP Jeff and thank you for your contribution to country music and your memorable songs.
