Lake Charles, LA - Now is the time to begin submitting entires for the “Light up the Lake Christmas Celebration” parades.

On Saturday, December 3, at 11am, a parade will take local groups (schools, businesses, civic groups, performing groups, and neighborhood kids) through downtown Lake Charles as they officially bring in the Christmas Holiday. The parade will travel south on Ryan Street from Mill Street to Dr. Michael Debakey Drive, and the best decorated vehicle and floats will be awarded trophies in several categories, and more. The second parade, a lighted boat parade, will begin at 6:30pm along the Lakefront Promenade, as each boat is judged for its "originality, creativity, decorations, presentation, and enthusiasm,” said a City of Lake Charles press release. A fireworks extravaganza will follow.

The Santa’s Workshop Community Band Concert will also take place inside the Civic Center, and the lighting ceremony will take place on the front lawn.
