Argument Is Still Out About the Importance of School Uniforms
I remember graduating from high school in 1992. I believe it wasn't much longer after that when school uniforms were implemented in the daily routine. I feel like having my own clothes showcased me more than anything. It showed my individuality, and I was still a scholar student, turning in my work on time and keeping myself out of trouble.
Over the past year, the students in Calcasieu Parish got a little break from having to wear school uniforms, but there is talk that they will be enforced one again for the upcoming school year. However, there are many parents who are not truly happy about this at all. There are many things to take into consideration when it comes to uniforms. One is whether or not there are sizes available. How is this going to fit into the budget and can a student lose themselves by not being able to be originals and not like everyone else?
At the end of the day, as parents we have to follow the rules. However, who knows who could be the fashionista by their own fashions and honestly, if you are slightly taking away a kid's voice on their choice of what to wear, what could possibly be the negative in the long run? I am sure this is going to be a discussion for years to come and whether or not there will be some give and take remains to be seen. As parents, continue to instill in them positivity and individuality within themselves. Our future leaders are here and beginning at this age is the best time to mold them.
