If you've grown up in SWLA, then KPLC-TV has been a huge part of your life.

I was on a YouTube "rabbit hole" last night watching video after video and then a suggested video came up that I just had to share with you. It's a montage of KPLC-TV clips from 1985-2019.

Growing up in SWLA you can't help but love the personalities on KPLC-TV. Some of my favorites over the years are Rob Robin, Alan Tumey, Sal Del Sid, Curtis Atkinson, Marty Briggs, Rob Marciano, and Cynthia Arceneaux.

Talk about a blast from the past. The video also shows some old-school commercials from local businesses. I love vintage commercials and I thought that was the perfect addition to the montage video. Enjoy!

When I was in middle school, Alan Tumey's son went to my church.  I would tell him all the time how much I was such a fanboy of Tumey's Travels and that I would love to meet him one day.  Well, that day came, one day after church his son told me that his dad was picking him up that Sunday. I asked if I could go meet him and he said yes. So, I followed him out to the parking lot and there he was, sitting in his van smoking a cigarette. We approached the van and all the confidence I had seconds ago left my body as we neared. When we got to the van, his son introduced me and I was frozen. I was able to get the word "hi" out, but that was it.  What felt like years, we awkwardly stared at each other until he cranked up his van and said, "well, nice to meet you".

He drove off and now I have a funny story I can finally tell to the masses. I was in total awe and speechless. TV and especially radio personalities have always been a big deal for me. I've known since I was eight years old that I wanted to be a radio DJ (shoutout to Dave "The Beastman" Savage from Bayou 104). Since working in radio here at The Lake I've gotten to meet and work alongside some of my childhood radio heroes like Dale Mann, Bruce Merchant, Dave Morgan, Gary Shannon, Eric Neilson, and Justin Case.
